What better way to celebrate America’s 250th birthday than to create your own iconic American foods: a hot dog and corn on the cob, nested inside a “paper” tray?
First, learn the basics of GMAW (MIG welding) and PAC (plasma arc cutting). Second, plasma cut the general shapes of your corn and hot dog bun. Third, weld each kernel of corn. Next, use an oxyfuel torch to create your hot dog. Afterwards, fit-up your hot dog and bun and weld, topping with metal “ketchup, mustard, onions,” etc. Once your hot dog creation is complete and your corn is topped with a pat of butter, cut and bend a sheet metal tray that looks just like a paper tray at the baseball stadium. Finally, take your masterpiece home and brag about all of the cool (hot) tools you used!

- ALL classes begin with safety! Participants will be taught to use all tools. Demonstrations and practice time are provided.
- We normally provide a small group setting of usually no more than 10 people so that everyone can get the individual instruction and attention they need.
- We provide all safety gear including safety glasses, welding jackets, gloves and welding helmets.
- FYI: if you already have your own safety glasses that fit you perfectly, you are welcome to bring them. Otherwise, we provide standard ANSI-approved safety glasses.
- This class is co-ed. Kids and adults are invited.
- Kids from ages 7/8 (ish) and up are welcome to register. Written parental consent is required so please be sure to sign our waiver if dropping off your child. (Mature 7-year-olds are permitted with prior permission… please contact us for details.)
- WHAT TO WEAR: jeans, cotton t-shirt and closed-toe shoes (leather shoes or boots preferred; tennis shoes are OK; no sandals); please ensure ankles and feet are completely covered. T-shirts or tank tops are fine as you will be wearing a welding jacket on top.
- Water, tea and light refreshments will be provided. Naturally, a delicious hot dog and corn on the cob will be provided as a “graduation” reward.
